The Support Partners Company, a leading executive search player in mining and basic industry, is glad to announce project completion. The project implied finding a chief miner for most extensive CIS mining company.

The problem our client faced was that he has been long recruiting foreign specialist for chief engineer  positions, while that was not quite a good idea. In fact, it was a no-win strategy because the foreign engineers neither knew or were willing to learn Russian, nor were aware of legal basics of mining in CIS. What is more, they had no interest in good company performance in long run.

So our mission was to find a Russian-speaking specialist in mining, working abroad and aware of modern mining technologies. That meant that the person should have international experience and the insight of post-soviet reality. The global search we ran (mostly among those specialists in Canada, South Africa and Australia) showed that there is lack of Russian-speaking high-flyers, despite the understanding of modern technologies. Starting from here, our client decided to approve a miner with experience in a huge Russian mining company. By the way we found out that a part of Russian mining companies like Severstal or Nornikel are up-to-date with all modern technologies and are quite competitive in the international market.
